Khalil Ur Rehman has been arrested over charges of money laundering, Hawala, and Hundi operations allegedly linked to Bahria Town’s illicit financial network.
Authorities revealed that several FIRs were registered against him, and strong documentary as well as testimonial evidence has been collected. Evidence shows that he gave illegal kickbacks to public officials to secure undue favors and benefits for Bahria Town. Officials added that Khalil Ur Rehman was actively running a transnational Hawala and Hundi operation. Through this network, large sums of black money were illegally transferred out of Pakistan to foreign jurisdictions, particularly the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United Kingdom (UK).
These illicit transfers are suspected to be directly or indirectly connected with the purchase and development of high-value properties abroad. Investigators believe that these assets are linked to Bahria Town’s key figures, including Malik Riaz Hussain. The prosecution has now submitted the challan against Khalil Ur Rehman in court. The case is moving into its next stage, with the upcoming hearing scheduled for September 5. During this session, the court will provide copies of the challan to the accused. After this process, the court is expected to announce a date for the formal indictment.
Authorities stressed that the case highlights one of the biggest financial crime investigations tied to illegal fund transfers, corruption, and offshore property acquisitions. Officials confirmed that further probes are underway to identify additional beneficiaries and recover looted wealth sent abroad.
