Left-arm fast bowler Usman Khan Shinwari has announced his retirement from international cricket, having represented Pakistan in a one-off Test, 17 ODIs and 16 T20Is from December 2013 to December 2019.
Pakistan fast bowler Usman Khan Shinwari has retired from international cricket, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Tuesday. The 31-year-old left-arm fast bowler’s career came to an end over six years after representing Pakistan in all three forms of the game. According to the PCB, Usman made his Test cap number 240, ODI cap number 216, and T20I cap number 58 – all against Sri Lanka, respectively, in December 2019, October 2017, and December 2013. He also featured in the Pakistan Men’s team squad for the 2018 ACC Men’s ODI Asia Cup.
In his career, Shinwari took one wicket during Test cricketer, 34 wickets in ODIs, and 13 wickets in T20Is. His best performance was against Sri Lanka in ODIs, where enjoyed two five-wicket match hauls. He took 5 for 34 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in 2017 and 5 for 51 at National Bank Stadium, Karachi in 2019.
Although Shinwari did not play international cricket for long, he was a worthwhile option as a part of Pakistan’s pace attack during his international career. His ability to swing the ball and take wickets at important times in the game provided Pakistan with a good option in limited-overs cricket. With Shinwari concluding this chapter from Pakistan cricket, he has left memories in performances that the fans will remember fondly.
