More than 4400 Punjab villages affected by floods: PDMA report

A detailed report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) highlights the devastating floods across Punjab, with millions affected and relief operations currently underway.

He shared that 404 relief camps have been set up in flood-affected districts for displaced families, while health and safety have been ensured, with 488 medical camps and 421 veterinary camps are also operational, serving people and animals in flood-affected areas. Relief operations also include the relocation of 1.58 million animals to secure locations, minimizing further losses to the agriculture and livestock sect Despite these measures, floods have already caused the deaths of at least 76 people in various events. Following the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, officials have committed to compensating residents’ losses.

Relief operations also include the relocation of 1.58 million animals to safe locations, preventing additional losses in agriculture and livestock. Providing an update on the water situation, Javed pointed out that the Mangla Dam is now at 90 percent of its total capacity, Tarbela Dam is full, and on the Indian side, the Bhakra Dam on the Sutlej River is at 90 percent capacity, Pong Dam is at 99 percent, and Thein Dam is at 97 percent.

Authorities are closely monitoring the rising water levels in rivers and dams to prevent further devastation. The government continues to conduct rescue and relief operations, ensuring that it will remain with flood victims until until full rehabilitation is achieved.
