The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has rescheduled the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in view of the prevailing flood situation across the country.
The test, which was earlier scheduled for October 5, will now be conducted on October 26, 2025 (Sunday). According to the council, the decision was taken after consultations with representatives from all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. PMDC stated that the rescheduling has been made in the best interest of students, ensuring equal educational opportunities for candidates across the country.
The development followed the instructions of Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, who directed PMDC to revise the schedule in light of current circumstances. Reacting to the decision, the minister said the step was taken in the larger interest of students and that the government is committed to providing fair and transparent opportunities for higher education. In recent months, PMDC has introduced several reforms to improve the medical entrance system. The council has already announced a new curriculum for MDCAT 2025, which includes five subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning.
The exam will comprise 180 multiple-choice questions, to be attempted within three hours, with no negative marking. Questions will be divided into three levels of difficulty, including easy, moderate, and difficult, ensuring a balanced paper for all candidates. With this revised schedule and updated structure, PMDC aims to reduce stress for students while maintaining transparency and equal opportunity. The authorities believe these reforms will strengthen confidence in the examination process and provide a fair platform for aspiring medical and dental students across the country.
