The water level at Kotri Barrage has risen sharply, with inflow recorded at 364000 cusecs and outflow at 339500 cusecs, according to the control room.
The surge has caused severe flooding in Manjhand, the largest taluka of Jamshoro district, where nearly 70 percent of the area is now underwater. Floodwater has destroyed standing crops on hundreds of acres and surrounded key sites, including an old Hindu temple and the local railway station. The situation has also put the Indus Highway near Sehwan at risk, while the land connection of several villages has been cut off. Residents are evacuating as many villages in Jamshoro have been completely submerged.
Earlier reports confirmed that floodwater drowned 130 villages in Jamshoro district, damaging crops and infrastructure. The Indus has also entered four villages near Petaro, while connectivity to Buddhapur, Manzoor Abad, and nearby areas has been disrupted. Meanwhile, fresh flood data shows that the peak flood stream has already passed through Guddu and Sukkur barrages, where the water level is now receding. At Guddu Barrage, inflow is at 260300 cusecs with outflow at 231500 cusecs. At Sukkur Barrage, inflow has dropped to 261600 cusecs while outflow stands at 206400 cusecs.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as thousands remain displaced and crops destroyed, adding to the challenges of communities along the Indus River.
