Field Marshal Asim Munir has held a high‑level meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran as part of Pakistan’s active push to help Iran and the United States reach a diplomatic agreement.
The talks are seen as a very important step in easing tensions between the two countries and stabilizing the region. During the visit, Field Marshal Munir and President Pezeshkian discussed regional peace, security cooperation, and ways to reduce conflict in the Middle East.
Defence ties, border management, and joint efforts against terrorism were among the key topics of discussion. Both leaders emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen dialogue on shared challenges.
Earlier in the day, the Field Marshal met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who had recently led a high‑level Iranian delegation to Islamabad. He also held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, focusing on political and security coordination between the two neighbours.
The Inter‑Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the Tehran visit is part of Pakistan’s ongoing mediation role between the US and Iran. Islamabad appears keen to host further rounds of talks, with officials preparing security and logistical arrangements for a possible second round of negotiations in the coming days.
