NAIROBI – Kenyan President William Ruto said on Tuesday that visitors from all over the world would not need a visa to enter Kenya as of January 2024.
In a speech honoring the nation’s 60th anniversary of independence from Britain, Ruto said that his administration has created a digital platform that ensures all travelers will get an electronic travel authorization in advance, instead of needing to apply for a visa.
Ruto further said, “It will no longer be required for anyone from anywhere in the world to bear the burden of applying for a visa to visit Kenya”.
Kenya’s decision to waive the visa requirement for all visitors is a significant and positive development for the country’s tourism and overall international relations.
Ruto has been an outspoken supporter of travel without a visa. He said in late October that by the end of 2023, Kenya will become the continent’s fourth nation by allowing all African citizens to enter without a visa.
The fresh decision facilitating everyone aligns with global trends of facilitating easier international travel and encouraging business professionals, investors, and individuals to visit Kenya for various purposes, from business ventures to cultural exchanges.
Kenya, located in East Africa with a population of over 50 million people, and renowned for its vibrant tourism industry, draws visitors with its diverse landscapes, abundant wildlife, and rich cultural heritage.
