JAKARTA – Indonesia’s government has launched an innovative five-year multiple-entry visa program aimed at catalyzing tourism and economic growth.
The Directorate General of Immigration announced the introduction of this visa, designed for both tourism and business endeavors.
Led by Director General Silmy Karim, Indonesia is refurbishing its visa policies to reinvigorate tourism post-pandemic and the latest visa is also a testament to that.
Dubbed the D1 Visa, it falls under the Tourism, Family Visit, and Transit visa category, permitting stays of up to 60 days within a five-year span.
The department has yet to specify the duration between consecutive 60-day visits but the visa costs IDR 15,000,000 which must be paid online to the Department of Immigration.
As far as the regulations are concerned, visa holders are prohibited from conducting revenue-generating work or business in Indonesia, and violations may result in fines, deportation, or legal repercussions, as stated by the Department of Immigration.
Moreover, they are barred from selling goods or services or engaging in employment relationships in Indonesia.
Applicants must demonstrate proof of at least USD 2,000 for living expenses, possess a passport valid for six months, and submit a recent color photograph to apply for the visa.
