QUETTA – At least 27 people were killed and multiple injured in two separate blasts in different districts of Balochistan on Wednesday ahead of general elections 2024 in Pakistan.
First blast occurred outside the office of a candidate named Asfand Yar Kakar in PB-47 Khanozai constituency of Pishin districts while the second took place outside the JUI-F office in Qila Saifullah district.
The Pishin blast has claimed 15 lives while around two dozen were injured. However, 12 people were killed in Qila Saifullah explosion, spreading panic among masses ahead of the general elections.
Injured people are being shifted to hospitals while security forces have cordoned off the areas to collect the evidence.
The explosion occurred a day before the general election scheduled to take place on February 8.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, interim information Minister of Balochistan Jan Achakzai and others condemned the blasts, calling them cowardly attempts to sabotage elections.
The prime minister expressed his revolve to conduct general elections in the country, saying any attempt to stop the elections will be foiled. He also directed the authorities in Balochistan to provide all-possible medical aid to the injured people.
