ELECTIONS 2024 – Will mobile and internet services be available or will they work in Pakistan on February 8, 2024 Election Day? The question has likely been posed by everyone around you.
According to sources, Caretaker Information Minister, Murtaza Solangi stated He has received no instructions to restrict mobile or internet services in the country on election day.
He stated that mobile and internet services are an integral part of transparency in elections as they are needed to access information for fair elections.
Solangi also stated that the local authorities will take all precautionary measures to ensure the transparency, and security of polling stations on polling day February 8, 2024.
The Minister states that no information has been provided to restrict services in Pakistan as of yet.
Mobile and Internet Services Available in Pakistan?
Even though Solangi did not mention any restrictions, the Minister of Balochistan Jan Achakzai still stated that internet services will not be available in several parts of Balochistan
He stated that this is due to threats of a terror attack in Balochistan as it has been in the crosshairs of terrorists recently.
As of yet, Turbat, Mach, and Chaman will be off the internet on polling day to ensure the safety and security of such stations.
This is because terrorist have been using social media for recon and to get information and select their targets.
