The authorities have partially reopened the main transport terminals of Islamabad and Rawalpindi after closing them for three days.
The move is aimed at easing travel for commuters while keeping security and law‑and‑order measures in place. In Islamabad, the Deputy Commissioner has announced that services at the 26 No. bus terminal have been restored.
Travelers coming from other cities to Islamabad can now again use Terminal 26 for public transport. The terminal is now the only official entry and exit point for inter‑city bus services in the capital, so passengers are being asked to plan their routes accordingly.
Similarly, in Rawalpindi, the district administration has resumed operations at the closed bus stand on Peshawar Road. This bus stand serves as a key hub for long‑distance and local routes, and its reopening will help restore connectivity for people travelling to and from the city.
Transport officials are urging commuters to check updated schedules and avoid crowding at other informal halting points. The three‑day closure had disrupted travel for thousands of passengers, forcing many to use private vehicles or hire taxis at higher costs. With the partial restoration of services, officials expect traffic and pressure on alternative routes to ease gradually.
Authorities have assured the public that they will continue monitoring the situation and may adjust service levels if needed. They have also asked passengers to follow rules, avoid blocking roads, and cooperate with police and traffic staff to keep the terminals running smoothly.
