PIA to start direct flights to the US soon

Pakistanis residing in the US have long wished for an easy, direct trip home, and now, as that dream nears reality, the 6,700-mile journey may finally become smoother.

The announcement was made by the Aviation Minister, who confirmed that the national carrier will soon begin non-stop operations to the US, following the recent resumption of direct flights to the United Kingdom. Officials said that discussions with US aviation authorities are already underway, and final approval is expected soon. Once approved, this move will make travel between Pakistan and North America faster, easier, and more convenient for thousands of Pakistanis who have long awaited a direct connection.

According to aviation officials, the return of direct flights will enhance international connectivity and give passengers more travel options than before. It will also play a key role in rebuilding confidence in Pakistan’s aviation services and strengthening global links. In addition, PIA is finalizing a new codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, which will further expand its route network.

This partnership will provide passengers with access to a wider range of destinations through connecting flights, ensuring smoother travel experiences worldwide. The aviation minister said that the initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to revive and modernize PIA, improve service quality, and make international travel more accessible. Once implemented, these steps are expected to mark a significant milestone in Pakistan’s aviation history, offering passengers greater convenience, better service, and more global reach than ever before.
