Punjab launches e-taxi service to tackle unemployment

In an effort to combat air pollution and provide employment opportunities for the unemployed, the Punjab government has started an e-taxi service.

Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan announced that a significant number of online taxis will be replaced with electric vehicles (EVs). Drivers can purchase these EVs through affordable down payments or easy installment plans.

The initiative not only targets a cleaner environment but also supports drivers financially. 

Minister Khan highlighted that switching to EVs could help drivers save up to 40% on fuel costs. The program also offers cash incentives to encourage participation.

This move addresses rising pollution in cities like Lahore while meeting the growing demand for online taxi services in Punjab. 

It is expected to create substantial employment opportunities, benefiting both drivers and the environment.

By replacing traditional taxis with electric ones, the government aims to combine economic growth with sustainable development, offering drivers a more affordable and eco-friendly way to earn.
