In response to messages and reports spreading on social media and WhatsApp, 1LINK (Private) Limited has emphasised that no cyber threat had been discovered to target Pakistan’s automated teller machine (ATM) and online banking systems.
In a statement, the 1LINK, backed by a consortium of 11 banks, has asked the public against falling for ‘scary warnings” pertaining to a cyber attack on ATMs and online banking services.
Moreover, it has advised people to ignore fraud and visit their banks for factual information.
SBP and 1LINK Ensure Robust Financial Security
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is actively collaborating with banks and 1LINK to ensure the security of Pakistan’s financial infrastructure and digital payments ecosystem while adhering to severe IT and security rules.
The institution highlighted that no cyber threat has been detected in the ATM and online banking ecosystems in this regard, and the financial services sector is as watchful as ever.
The statement highlighted that no cyber attacks have been found and that the financial services industry remained attentive in protecting against possible dangers.
