Seventy-two officers from grades 18 to 20, representing various occupational groups, have successfully cleared the written test conducted by Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) for the role of Trade and Investment Attaché at 28 foreign missions worldwide.
The Ministry of Commerce recently held a written test for Trade and Investment Attaché positions, managed by the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Of the 178 civil servants who took the test, 72 (approximately 40 percent) scored 60 percent or higher, advancing to the next phase.
The successful candidates include 37 from BPS-18, 22 from BPS-19, and 13 from BPS-20. They come from various services, with 25 representing the Inland Revenue Service (IRS), 19 from Commerce and Trade, 13 from the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), 8 from Customs, 3 from the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service (PAAS), and 2 each from the Office Management Group and the Economists Group.
A committee led by the Federal Minister for Commerce will now interview the qualified candidates. After the Prime Minister’s approval, these officials will be appointed to different missions abroad for a tenure of three years.
This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to merit-based selection and aims to enhance trade and investment through skilled representation on international platforms.
