ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Friday notified a quarterly hike in electricity bills.
The authority announced the increase following requests from former Wapda distribution companies (DISCOs) for periodic adjustment in tariff for the Fourth Quarter of FY24.
The power regulator has decided to allow positive quarterly adjustments of Rs43,230 million pertaining to the Fourth Quarter of FY24, in a period of 03 months i.e., September to November 2024, at a uniform rate of Rs1.7432 per unit, to be applicable to all consumer categories, except lifeline consumers and prepaid consumers.
Moreover, the instant quarterly adjustment of Rs1.7432 per unit will also be charged from the consumers of K-Electric except life line and prepaid consumers, to be recovered in a period of 03 months i.e., September to November 2024, as per the category wise rates.
The regulator also announced its decision in the matter of Fuel Charges Adjustment for the month of July 2024 for DISCOs.
The regulator approved a reduction of Rs. 0.37 per unit in the monthly fuel charge adjustment for July 2024. DISCOs will reflect the fuel charges adjustment in respect of July in the billing month of September 2024.
The adjustment will be applicable to all the consumer categories except lifeline consumers, domestic consumers consuming up-to 300 units, Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS), Prepaid electricity consumers of all categories who opted for pre-paid tariff and agriculture Consumers of all the DISCOs.
