Global fuel costs dip following Trump’s statement on Venezuela

Crude oil prices recorded a sharp decline in the international market after a statement from US President Donald Trump regarding future oil supplies from Venezuela.

The development triggered an immediate reaction across trading platforms, pushing global prices downward. International media reported that crude oil became cheaper by more than one percent as the price fell close to 60 dollars per barrel. The decrease followed President Trump’s indication that Venezuela may soon supply the United States with a large amount of crude oil.

According to initial estimates, the expected supply ranges between 30 and 50 million barrels per day, while American oil companies are also preparing to invest in Venezuela’s energy sector. Following these remarks, global markets reacted swiftly, causing oil prices to drop by nearly 1.4 percent. Analysts stated that if Venezuela releases its stored oil into the market, prices could fall even further. Reports suggest that the total value of the stored oil could reach up to three billion dollars.

Experts also highlighted that Venezuela holds the world’s largest proven oil reserves. However, years of mismanagement, corruption, and political instability have severely damaged its production capacity. Roughly twenty-five years ago, the country produced 3.5 million barrels a day. Today, output has plunged to nearly 1 million barrels, which is less than one percent of global production.

Energy organizations believe it will take significant time to revive Venezuela’s oil sector. According to an energy consultancy firm, stabilizing the industry will require at least fifteen years and an investment of nearly 185 billion dollars. Despite the challenges, the new interest from the United States has added fresh momentum to discussions about restoring Venezuela’s long-struggling oil economy.
