The federal government announced on Friday an increase in the price of petrol by Rs1 per litre, taking the rate to Rs257.13 per litre.
Petrol prices have risen by Re1 per litre, while HSD has seen a significant hike of Rs7, bringing its new rate to Rs267.95 per litre. Currently, a petroleum levy of Rs60 per litre is applied to both petrol and HSD, but these fuels remain exempt from general sales tax (GST).
In the previous fortnightly review, petrol prices were raised by Rs3.47 per litre, reaching Rs256.13, while HSD saw an increase of Rs2.61, bringing its price to Rs260.95 per litre.
These price adjustments are part of the government’s regular fuel cost revisions. Consumers are advised to stay informed about fuel price changes, as they directly impact transportation costs and inflation.
