J.K. Spinning Mills Limited (JKSM), a Pakistani textile firm, plans to boost its green energy capacity and intends to install 7MW additional capacity as part of the company’s strategic initiatives.
In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the company shared that it has already installed 7 megawatts (MW) of solar energy. Talks are ongoing with suppliers to add another 7MW. The company confirmed that bank financing for this expansion is already approved. This move comes as more companies in Pakistan shift toward solar power due to rising electricity prices and flat power demand. JK Spinning’s decision supports the country’s growing focus on renewable energy in both residential and industrial sectors.
In addition to solar expansion, JK Spinning plans to improve its manufacturing efficiency. The company is investing Rs161 million in modern machinery. It will install one automatic flat sheet cross hemming unit and one automatic pillowcase side-closing unit. These upgrades will improve speed, reduce labor costs, and ensure consistent quality. All letters of credit (LCs) for this investment are in place, and funding is secured. The company’s management has also approved converting over 34000 spindle units into an Open-End Spinning System with 6000 rotors. This change will help reuse waste material (Comber-Noil) and allow the company to meet global sustainability standards.
The upgraded spinning system is expected to begin commercial production in September. J.K Spinning Mills, listed on the PSX, has been operating since 1987. It is involved in textile-related activities including spinning, ginning, stitching, and the sale of yarn and fabric. These investments reflect JK Spinning’s focus on clean energy and automation to stay competitive in the international market.
