The Metro bus service in Rawalpindi has been partially suspended today (Friday) in connection with Chehlum processions.
The Metro Bus administration has suspended operations on the Rawalpindi section between Saddar Station and Faizabad for the entire day on the instructions of the district administration. The step has been taken to ensure strict security arrangements during the Chehlum processions of the martyrs of Karbala. Officials stated that Metro Bus service in Islamabad, from IJP Station to the Pak Secretariat, will continue operating as usual. However, commuters using the Rawalpindi route have been urged to arrange alternative transport for their travel needs.
Authorities said this temporary suspension is part of a wider security plan for Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The aim is to ensure the safe and smooth movement of processions while preventing traffic congestion and inconvenience for participants. Security personnel have been deployed at key locations, and special routes have been assigned for processions to avoid any disruption to public safety. The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions is being observed across the country today with great respect and devotion. Religious gatherings, Majalis, and processions are being held to remember their sacrifice.
Metro Bus management has assured passengers that normal service between Saddar and Faizabad will resume tomorrow. Until then, people are advised to follow the official travel guidelines and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays. This security measure reflects the administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and order during important religious events in the twin cities.
