Peshawar BRT latest card price

The KP Urban Mobility Authority (KPUMA) has notified an increase in the card price of Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) due to rising paper and printing costs.

The new card price is now Rs400 reflecting a Rs100 hike. To support the BRT system, the provincial government has been providing a substantial annual subsidy of Rs4 billion.

However, a Rs10 fare increase per ride was implemented a few months ago to address ongoing financial challenges. Despite these issues, the BRT continues to serve over 400000 passengers daily, underscoring its importance in Peshawar’s transport network.

This price hike aims to cover increasing operational costs, which may place additional financial strain on daily commuters. The KPUMA’s spokesperson emphasized that the rising costs of paper and printing materials made the increase unavoidable. 

This price change is part of continued efforts to ensure the smooth operation of the BRT service in the face of financial challenges. As the provincial government grapples with rising costs to maintain the transport system, the increase in BRT card prices and fares reflects the pressure on the service.

Nevertheless, the BRT remains a crucial service, helping thousands of commuters travel across Peshawar each day despite the financial strain.
