The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for submitting Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for the June 2025 tax period to August 4, 2025.
However, this extension is only valid if the taxpayer has already deposited the due sales tax amount within the original deadline. FBR shared this decision with all Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue across Large Taxpayer Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayer Offices (MTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs). The notification has been issued using the authority given under section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 and section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005. Earlier, the return filing deadline was July 18, 2025. Now, due to the extension, taxpayers have time until August 4, but only those who have paid their due taxes on time can benefit from it.
This move is aimed at providing relief to taxpayers and ensuring smooth processing of returns without penalty. The FBR also reminded taxpayers to follow all rules and deadlines strictly, especially when it comes to depositing the actual tax amount. The tax authority further advised concerned offices to inform taxpayers properly and ensure there are no delays or confusion in the return filing process.
