Small dip in cement prices reported countrywide

Cement retail prices in the country recorded a slight decrease over the past week.

Cement prices across Pakistan remained mostly stable during the week ending October 30, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). The data showed slight changes between northern and southern regions, with prices moving only marginally. In northern cities, the average price per cement sack settled at Rs1364, which is slightly lower than last week’s average of Rs1369. This small decrease reflects a mild correction in market rates. Meanwhile, prices in southern cities stayed unchanged at Rs1441 per sack, indicating stability in demand and supply conditions in the region.

City-wise data showed little variation, but some areas recorded noticeable differences. In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, prices stood at Rs1345 and Rs1346 respectively. Gujranwala and Lahore saw higher rates at Rs1400 and Rs1406, while Sialkot recorded Rs1350 per sack. In Faisalabad, the rate reached Rs1380, and Sargodha recorded Rs1360. Multan noted Rs1378, while Bahawalpur saw a peak of Rs1407. Prices dipped in Peshawar at Rs1334 and reached the lowest level in Bannu at Rs1300.

In the south, Karachi’s average rate stood at Rs1369, while Hyderabad recorded Rs1427. Prices jumped to Rs1500 in both Sukkur and Quetta, making them some of the most expensive markets. Larkana reported Rs1407, and Khuzdar followed with Rs1443 per sack.

Overall, the cement market showed stability, with only a slight decline in northern areas and consistent rates in southern regions. This trend suggests steady construction activity and balanced supply conditions. Market observers will continue monitoring cement prices as ongoing development projects and seasonal construction demand can influence future rates.
