ISLAMABAD – Cambridge International Education (CIE) has decided not to award marks to students in the A-level maths paper, which was marred by controversy after it leaked online a day before the paper in May 2024.
The CIE has issued its report on the episode, which took place on May 2 when the maths paper was leaked online.
Cambridge said the students will now be given marks on the basis of their performance in other maths papers.
It added that students who want to retake the maths paper can appear in exams in November 2024 without any fee.
On May 3, the CIE had started a probe into the alleged leak of the mathematics paper of A-level on social media.
Social media users had claimed that the A-Level Mathematics 9709 Paper 12 had been leaked online prior to the exam day. Following the incident, students and their parents had demanded an investigation into the matter.
Keeping in view the concerns of the parents, the CIE had then issued a statement, saying: “We are looking into concerns raised about a potential paper leakage on 02 May 2024 for AS Level Mathematics 9709 Paper 12”.
It added that matter is being investigated, and Cambridge and the British Council are in close communication.
