Saudi Arabia rolls out E-gates at this airport to revolutionize travel experience

DUBAI – All flight operations at Dubai International (DXB) will be transferred to Al Maktoum International Airport (AMI) in the next few years.

The announcement was made on Sunday that the new Dh128 billion airport terminal will increase passenger capacity to 260 million annually and be fully operational in 10 years.

DXB will continue to operate as the main hub accommodating the needs of 100 million plus passengers over the next few years as phase two of DWC takes shape. The government has also announced that it approved designs for a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport and began construction at a cost of Dh128 billion ($34.8 billion).

The Al Maktoum International Airport is set to be five times bigger than the DXB. Once the airport is fully operational, the area will be around 70 square- kilometers. The airport will have five similar runways and five passenger terminals, taking care of more than 400 gates.

In this regard, photos of AMI were shared by Emirates Airline, calling it ‘future home’. DXB is the world’s busiest airport and experts suggest that traffic at DXB will cross over 88.8 million travelers in 2024.

Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, has said that AMI Airport will enjoy the world’s biggest capacity, accommodating up to 260 million passengers. For the very first time in history, the latest aviation technologies will be installed in the airport to serve the flyers.
