TBILISI – Authorities in Georgia have introduced changes to visa regulations, requiring travelers to possess travel insurance when visiting the country.
Under the updated guidelines, tourists from 95 nations enjoying visa-free entry privileges will be asked to obtain travel insurance effective from June 1st this year.
While visa-exempt travelers currently are not required to possess travel insurance, this practice will change next month. The decision aims to guarantee that all visitors, irrespective of their entry privileges, are financially protected in the event of unforeseen medical emergencies.
According to the details, the travel health insurance policy for Georgia must encompass a minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical expenses, extending throughout the entirety of the traveler’s stay, whether for a day, a week, or a month.
It’s noteworthy that the travel health insurance documentation must be presented upon arrival in Georgia and must be available in either Georgian, English, or Russian.
Travel insurance serves as an important document providing financial security and ease of travel for individuals. It safeguards against various unforeseen circumstances, including trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and loss or delay of baggage, thereby ensuring travelers can navigate challenges abroad without undue financial strain.
