Ministry of Hajj and Umrah launched a Hajj Without Luggage service for 2026.
The service lets pilgrims ship their bags to Saudi hotels from their home country. Officials said this will ease travel congestion and reduce crowds at airports and sacred sites. The ministry coordinated the plan with the General Authority of Civil Aviation and other Hajj agencies. Luggage will be picked up by special companies at departure airports.
Then they will take it to the airports in Saudi Arabia for arrival, such as Jeddah and Madinah. Last but not least, workers will bring the bags to Makkah and Madinah hotels in 24 hours. Thus, pilgrims can directly return to the buses after landing. This will shorten the time spent waiting at the bag check. Hence, airport crowd flow will get better during high traffic days of Hajj. Officials say the system will speed up pilgrim traffic and reduce their stress.
Saudia airline announced their participation in the project. The airline said the service will transport over 400,000 pilgrims to over 145 destinations. Furthermore, Saudi Post tied up to offer local and nationwide delivery services. Together partners are looking at nearly 1.1 million bags from seven countries for the Makkah Route Initiative.
In addition, authorities said the scheme will boost safety and logistics during Hajj. They will also be providing tracking and support services for the customer. This means families will know where their bags are and can alert staff promptly if there is a problem.
