Schools and college students of all government and private institutions are expecting a local holiday in provincial capital Lahore on August 26, on the occasion of Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri also known as Data Gunj Baksh.
The local holiday is expected as the city administration declared holiday for this religious occasion in 2023 and in previous years, and many anticipate a similar announcement for 2024.
So far, the Education Department or provincial administration has not shared any update about August 26 holiday in Lahore.
On the other hand, Lahore High Court has already announced holiday for courts on Data Gunj Baksh Urs. It will be a long weekend for students who will enjoy an extended weekend from August 24-26 and will return to school on August 27.

Data Ganj Bakhsh’s Urs is annual event marking the anniversary of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, a distinguished Sufi saint. Ali Hajveri was a notable Persian scholar and mystic who played a crucial role in the spread of Islam in the Indian subcontinent, especially in Lahore, Pakistan.
