ISLAMABAD – In recent news, electric buses are all set to start operations in the federal capital next month with the first batch of 30 buses arriving from China.
The initial batch is expected to reach Karachi in three weeks before being transported to Islamabad near May.
As the first batch arrives, the Capital Development Authority (CDA), in collaboration with National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC), will temporarily start bus operations.
The routes of temporary bus operations by CDA and NRTC will be from the Convention Centre, which is now equipped with charging facilities.
Moreover, preparations are underway to establish a permanent depot at Zero Point.

According to sources, the second batch of 70 buses is expected to arrive after four weeks as they will be shipped 2 weeks after this shipment.
Furthermore, the last and final batch consisting of 50 buses will be dispatched from China on May 5, 2024.
These 150 buses will be deployed across 13 new routes, with the first 30 buses operating on two routes to be determined shortly by CDA Chairman Anwarul Haq.
These routes include Police Foundation/Orange Line Station to Red Line Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station in I-8, Allama Iqbal Station to Red Line Potohar Station, and PIMS to Secretariat.
According to sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the Electric bus service for the Federal Capital.
