In a recent development, the Islamabad Police have conducted a comprehensive search operation across various parts of the federal capital territory, leading to the detention of 800 Afghan citizens in Islamabad.  Out of the 800 detained afghan individuals, 400 were subsequently released upon providing proof of their residence status. However, a total of 375 Afghan nationals lacked proper identity papers, while the remaining 25 individuals are being held until their identity documents are verified.

Out of this number, only 1.3 million are officially registered with the authorities. There are currently around 775,000 unregistered Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan.

Distribution of Afghan Nationals:

A substantial 68.8% of Afghan citizens in Pakistan have settled in urban or semi-urban areas, while the remaining 31.2% are distributed across 54 different regions, including villages.
