Islamabad to restore 23 city fountains

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Tuesday directed swift restoration of 23 non-functional water fountains across the city, accompanied by artistic lighting.

In a recent meeting, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) approved several new steps to improve the beauty and environment of Islamabad. The plan includes large-scale tree plantation, upgrading public parks, and beautifying major roads.

CDA has identified five main routes for immediate development: Expressway, Margalla Road, Club Road, Park Road, and Faisal Avenue. These roads will get fresh lane markings, repaired pavements, improved green belts, and decorated medians.

To make the city visually appealing, modern streetlights, seasonal flowers, decorative planters, and natural stones will be added along the roads. All major roundabouts in the city will be redesigned and rebuilt.

Large public parks will also be upgraded with better walking tracks, children’s swings, and improved plant care. Urban forestry projects will be introduced to fight pollution and increase greenery across the capital.

Sprinkler systems will be improved so plants and trees can survive even during dry periods. A new mobile app will also be launched, allowing citizens to buy cheap seeds and seedlings from CDA nurseries, making it easier for the public to take part in greening efforts.

Chairman CDA, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, said the goal is to turn Islamabad into a model city that is not only beautiful but also eco-friendly. He added that the beautification campaign will help boost Islamabad’s image globally and support sustainable urban planning.

The CDA aims to complete these projects in phases, focusing on both environmental care and visual improvement.
