The MDCAT 2024 tests will be held again in Islamabad on December 22, with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) set to roll out an official notification soon.
The council is set to finalize decisions on roll numbers and exam centers next week with over 30 centers planned across Islamabad to accommodate the 17597 candidates registered for the retake. The number of candidates registered for the retake has significantly decreased from the initial 53105 to just 17597.
This drop follows the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) decision to annul the earlier MDCAT results. In October, the IHC ruled that the exam was “out of syllabus” and ordered that it be reconducted. The IHC’s decision was supported by the PMDC, which also acknowledged that the exam paper did not align with the prescribed syllabus.
According to the IHC’s order, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) has been tasked with conducting the retake for Islamabad-based applicants. The retake is aimed at ensuring fairness and accuracy in the admissions process for medical and dental colleges across Pakistan.
The retake will be closely monitored to guarantee that all candidates have an equal opportunity to succeed. With the PMDC confirming the revised schedule and taking steps to rectify the issues with the initial exam, the process is progressing to provide clarity and transparency for all candidates.
