ISLAMABAD: One of Pakistan’s most famous eateries, Monal, has announced it is ceasing its operations in the capital city.
Monal, which has been a top attraction in the Margalla Hills National Park, issued a statement on Tuesday saying it is closing on September 11, 2024.
The management’s decision to close down the restaurant comes in the wake of a Supreme Court (SC) judgment, which directed all eateries within Islamabad’s Margalla Hills National Park to cease their operations.
During the June 11 hearing, CJP Qazi Faiz Isa remarked that commercial activities could not be allowed in the National Park area and sought details of all other restaurants located in Margalla Hills National Park.

“Dear valued customers, Thank you for your trust and for giving us a chance to serve you to the best of our abilities, for giving us recognition, appreciation, and a place in your heart,” Monal said in a statement on Instagram.
“Since 2006, it has been an absolute pleasure for the Monal family to serve and showcase a positive image of Pakistan and its beautiful people. This journey was full of success stories and emotions for the team affiliated with us but now it is time to say goodbye.”
