Bank of Punjab secures naming rights for Gaddafi Stadium

In a landmark move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sold the naming rights of Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium to the Bank of Punjab. The deal is worth a record-breaking Rs1 billion, making it the highest ever for a sports venue in Pakistan.

This agreement not only replaces the historic name of the stadium but also aligns with a global trend where sports venues are named after their sponsors.

The Bank of Punjab’s naming rights deal will extend for five years. This partnership sets a new benchmark in Pakistan’s sports sponsorship world, surpassing the previous Rs450 million deal for Karachi’s National Stadium.

Under the leadership of Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB has more than doubled its revenue from stadium naming rights, signaling a new era of commercial success for Pakistan cricket.

A new era for Gaddafi Stadium

As preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy are underway, the PCB is heavily investing in upgrading Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi stadiums. The revenue generated from these naming rights deals will help offset the costs of these upgrades, ensuring that Pakistan’s cricket infrastructure is ready for international events.

This significant deal is part of a broader strategy by the PCB to sell naming rights for other stadiums across the country. By following the global trend of sponsor-named sports venues, the PCB aims to boost revenue and support the growth of cricket in Pakistan.

The Bank of Punjab’s investment marks a turning point for the Gaddafi Stadium and Pakistan cricket. As the iconic venue gets a new name, this partnership promises financial stability and growth, paving the way for more significant developments in the future.
