MALE – Countries across the globe are slowly retaliating to the aggression unleashed by Israel against Palestinians and Maldives is actually considering imposing a travel ban on citizens from Israel.
Maldives is currently debating a proposal that aims to impose the travel ban; the proposal was suggested by Nasheed Abdulla to change the country’s Immigration Act to forbid Israeli passport holders from visiting the country.
The move hints at showing solidarity with the Palestinians who are reeling under a constant terror that erupted in October and continues to this day unabated despite calls from the United Nations (UN).
Although no noticeable country has imposed the visa ban on Israeli citizens as of now, US President Biden has warned that the country could sanction Israeli settlers who attack Palestinians.
The violence in Palestine continues despite repeated calls by human rights groups and the United Nations; the atrocities could be gauged from the fact that over 5,000 children have been killed in the violence that has sent shockwaves across the world.
In a fresh attack, the Israeli forces also targeted a hospital funded by Indonesia. The officials related to the health department have warned that the hospitals in Gaza have reached above the peak occupancy rate.
Meanwhile, there have been reports of a possible agreement between Palestine and Israel in which Qatar is playing a role. An official announcement in this regard is awaited; however, sources say that there will be an exchange of prisoners between both sides as a result of the agreement.
As far as the proposal floated by the member of parliament of Maldives is concerned, a final decision in this regard has not been made. If approved, there might be a domino effect in which other Muslim countries might also start imposing sanctions on Israel.
It bears mentioning that Pakistan does not recognize Israel as a state and the holders of Pakistani passport cannot travel to the country, a gesture signifying a show of support to the Palestinians.
