BANGKOK – In an effort to attract more tourists, the Thai government has decided to allow nightclubs and entertainment places to stay open for long hours, a government spokesperson said on Tuesday.
According to the directives announced by Traisulee Traisaranaku, clubs, bars, Karaoke places and tourist spots in cities like Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Samui, and Chiang Mai can now stay open for an extra two hours until 4 AM.
The new regulations will take effect on December 15, as previously announced by Prime Minister of Thailand Srettha Thavisin.
Thailand’s economy has been growing more slowly than its neighboring countries, and it relies a lot on tourists. Drettha’s government wants to push it by introducing measures to encourage more tourism.
Earlier, the government also removed the need for Chinese and Indian tourists to get visas. This year, about 24.5 million people from other countries have visited Thailand, but the government hopes to attract 28 million tourists by the end of the year.
Like many other countries, tourism in Thailand suffered a devastating blow as a result of the pandemic. Before COVID-19, a record 39.9 million people came to Thailand, and a big chunk, 11 million, were from China. However, the travel restrictions brought the sector to its knees.
Thailand is a beautiful Southeast Asian country known for its stunning beaches, rich culture, delicious food, and vibrant cities. Overall, Thailand offers a fantastic blend of cultural experience, natural beauty, and vibrant urban life, making it a popular destination for visitors from around the world.
The country not only attracts Europeans but also Asians find ti more comfortable to travel to the country partly because of the tour being very economical.
