Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) has announced that, with the support of Meezan Bank, it has become Pakistan’s second international airport to fully operate on a cashless payment system.
The initiative, in line with directives from the State Bank of Pakistan, ensures that all financial transactions across airport counters, concessions, lounges, parking, and retail will now be conducted through digital channels. This move aims to provide passengers, business partners, and stakeholders with a more efficient, secure, and convenient experience.
Chairman SIAL Hassan Ali Bhatti emphasized that the cashless transition is not merely a technological update but a strategic investment in customer convenience, financial accountability, and operational excellence. He added that digital adoption strengthens modern airport operations and positions SIAL as a leader in the aviation sector.
Vice Chairman Waqas Afzal highlighted that the shift demonstrates the airport’s commitment to innovation, service enhancement, and continuous digital transformation. He said the initiative sets a benchmark for other airports in the country to follow progressive reforms that improve both passenger experience and operational transparency.
SIAL CEO AVM Tanweer Ashraf Bhatti (R) stated that the airport will continue collaborating with regulatory authorities and industry partners to expand digital accessibility. He said the focus remains on elevating the travel experience for millions of passengers in the years ahead while maintaining international standards of efficiency and safety. The cashless system is expected to reduce delays, minimize human errors, and streamline financial reporting.
