Authorities extend section 144 in Rawalpindi once more

Section 144 has been extended once again across Rawalpindi city by the district administration.

The Rawalpindi district administration has extended Section 144 for an additional 15 days, keeping the city under strict restrictions until January 22. The notification, issued by Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema, states that the move aims to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents in the city.

Under Section 144, all public gatherings, including meetings, processions, rallies, and any type of assembly, remain strictly prohibited. The ban also includes the use of loudspeakers and the display of weapons, ensuring that public spaces remain secure and peaceful. Authorities have emphasized that these measures are precautionary and are being enforced to protect citizens and prevent any potential disruption. Law enforcement agencies will closely monitor the situation, and any violations of the restrictions will be dealt with under relevant legal provisions.

The district administration has called on residents to fully cooperate with the authorities during this period. Officials said the continued enforcement of Section 144 reflects the administration’s commitment to upholding public safety and curbing incidents that could threaten communal harmony or public order. This extension follows earlier efforts by the Rawalpindi administration to prevent unrest and ensure a safe environment for all citizens. Residents are advised to avoid organizing or participating in unauthorized gatherings until the restrictions are lifted.
