The District and Sessions Court handed over copies of the challan to the accused in a suspected money laundering case against Khalilur Rehman.
The money laundering case involving the personal staff officer of Bahria Town founder Malik Riaz has been adjourned until September 10. Judge Nasr Minallah presided over the hearing and fixed the next date for the indictment of the accused. The Federal Investigation Agency’s Money Laundering Wing filed the case, accusing retired Colonel Khalilur Rehman of sending huge sums of money abroad illegally for Malik Riaz’s Dubai property projects. According to the challan, three people have been nominated in the case, including Mushtaq, Imran, and Khalilur Rehman. During Friday’s hearing, copies of the challan were given to Rehman. Imran joined the proceedings through video link, while Mushtaq remains in NAB custody. Both accused will be produced in court at the next hearing.
Investigators say Khalilur Rehman ran illegal Hawala and Hundi networks for unlawful fund transfers, directly benefiting Bahria Town. Several FIRs have already been registered against him, and he is under arrest in connection with financial crimes. The FIA has gathered strong documentary and witness evidence showing that billions of rupees were transferred from Bahria Town accounts to Khalilur Rehman without legal justification or any valid business activity. The agency also claims he paid unlawful kickbacks to public officials to secure undue advantages for Bahria Town in different projects.
The case highlights major concerns about corruption and misuse of financial systems in Pakistan. The upcoming indictment on September 10 will mark a crucial stage in the trial as the court begins formal proceedings against those accused of running massive illegal money transfers.
