Bangladesh opens 500 scholarship opportunities for Pakistani students

Bangladesh has offered 500 new scholarships to talented Pakistani students, marking an important step in strengthening bilateral relations.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed a strong desire to enhance cooperation with Bangladesh in multiple fields, including green energy, flood management, and sustainable agriculture. The announcement came during her meeting in Lahore with Bangladesh’s Minister for Religious Affairs, Dr. Khalid Hussain. President PML-N Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Bangladesh High Commissioner H.E. MD Iqbal Hussain Khan also attended the meeting.

During the discussion, CM Maryam Nawaz praised Bangladesh’s achievements in the garment industry, microfinance, and women’s empowerment. She described these sectors as vital pillars of social progress and stressed that Pakistan and Bangladesh share a deep bond rooted in history and brotherhood. She added that Punjab is committed to turning this friendship into a meaningful regional partnership.

Furthermore, PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that the people of Pakistan hold deep affection for their Bangladeshi brothers and sisters. He recalled the legacy of national hero MM Alam and highlighted the importance of building stronger bilateral ties. He also appreciated Bangladesh’s rapid progress in economic development and public welfare. In response, Dr. Khalid Hussain commended the contributions of the Nawaz family to Pakistan’s history and praised the leadership of CM Maryam Nawaz. He reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Pakistan.

Additionally, Bangladesh High Commissioner H.E. MD Iqbal Hussain Khan emphasized that the people of Bangladesh deeply respect Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for his role in conducting nuclear tests. He said the younger generation in Bangladesh continues to hold him in high esteem.
