The proposal to give smartphones to women beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) in order to improve their financial and digital inclusion was discussed during a meeting between Senator Rubina Khalid, the chair of the BISP, and a delegation from JazzCash, which included Ali Naseer, the chief strategic officer, and Vice President Corporate Affairs Ibrar Khan.
Offering financial assistance where it is most needed, BISP has been a vital source of support for many women in Pakistan. Currently, Senator Rubina Khalid is spearheading an initiative to provide these women smartphones, enabling them to handle their payments more conveniently and transparently.
Getting their payments might be challenging for a lot of women who are getting assistance from BISP. They risk delays or even fraud if they don’t have the proper tools. Providing them with smartphones would ensure that they are aware of their rights and have more secure access to their money, helping to close this gap.
Senator Rubina Khalid underlined the direction issued by Pakistan’s prime minister and president to guarantee that BISP beneficiaries receive their payments in a transparent and respectful manner.
She emphasized that empowering people digitally through cell phones is essential to closing the communication gap between BISP and its beneficiaries, giving them complete awareness of their rights and lowering the possibility of fraud.
Also, the chairwoman emphasized BISP’s dedication to enhancing the lives of its clients by providing job-matching, market-driven skill development programs.
