In the continuing Toshakhana case, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of incarerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Judge Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb granted the bail during a hearing on Wednesday, requiring Bushra Bibi to post a Rs1 million bond.
This ruling gives Bushra Bibi some short-term respite from accusations that he handled state gifts improperly.
Justice Aurangzeb asked the investigating officer of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) during the hearing if more questioning of Bushra Bibi was required.
Following the officer’s confirmation that no further investigation was necessary, the judge granted bail.
The British Prime Minister had likewise accepted presents home, according to the court, which also cited comparable procedures in other nations.
The judge pointed out that other countries, such as Azerbaijan, exhibit gifts in museums, and that Benazir Bhutto’s is the only picture of a Pakistani leader.
In the Toshakhana case, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are accused of corruption, particularly in relation to the selling of gifts from foreign dignitaries.
In the meantime, security concerns forced the postponement of the indictment procedures against Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan, which were supposed to take place on the same day.
The hearing, which was originally scheduled to take place at Adiala Jail, was rescheduled to the Judicial Complex in Islamabad.
However, security issues kept getting in the way of the proceedings, so the court moved the indictment until October 26.
