Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir attended the IDEAS 2024 defence expo in Karachi, where he observed impressive displays of arms and equipment from both local and international exhibitors, according to the ISPR.
General Munir praised the active participation of defence manufacturers from friendly nations and interacted with foreign military officials and defence delegates.
The event featured 557 exhibitors, including 333 foreign and 224 domestic participants, with 17 nations joining for the first time.
Over 300 foreign delegates from 53 countries also attended, expressing confidence in Pakistan’s defence industry.
A key moment of the expo was the unveiling of the Shahpar-III drone, a combat UAV developed by GIDS Pakistan.
The advanced drone, capable of reaching 35,000 feet and operating for over 24 hours, is equipped to carry various munitions, including bombs and missiles.
The defence expo, which began on Tuesday, will continue until Friday, showcasing Pakistan’s growing defence capabilities.
