The federal government has allotted one-kanal plots in the upmarket Sector E-11 for bureaucrats and top police officers at incredibly low prices.
These plots were reportedly sold at a fraction of their market value, raising concerns about fairness and transparency.
Officers such as former Interior Secretary Aftab Akbar Durrani, IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan, and Punjab IG Dr.
Usman Anwar was among the beneficiaries. Additional IG Punjab Bilal Siddique Kamyana received a plot in E-9 for Rs500,000, far below its actual worth of Rs30 million.
The National Police Foundation (NPF) justified the low prices, stating that unoccupied plots are resold at their original rates. However, critics argue this practice is unfair.
Shahid Iqbal, a former deputy inspector general, has taken legal action, claiming his plot was unfairly reallocated.
Further controversy surrounds a rule introduced by Durrani before retirement, restructuring the NPF and extending the managing director’s tenure, allegedly against the foundation’s guidelines.
The issue has sparked debates about the transparency of the allocation process.
