A man from Wazirabad was sentenced to six months in prison by a local court after his first wife filed a complaint that he contracted a second marriage without her permission.
The case was filed after Raza’s first wife learned about his second marriage and approached the court. She stated that they had been married for eight years and have two children together. According to the law, a husband must obtain his first wife’s consent before marrying again.
The court, led by Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Aslam Panjotha, ruled in favor of the first wife and issued the sentence.
Under Pakistani law, marrying a second time without the first wife’s approval is a punishable offense, with penalties including imprisonment and fines.
