An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 struck Lahore and various cities of Punjab, including Jhelum, Kamalia, and Gujrat, causing widespread panic as residents rushed out of their homes and buildings.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) confirmed the epicenter was near Kharian, with a depth of 15 kilometres.
Residents rushed out of their homes, reciting Kalma-e-Tayyaba in fear. Fortunately, no casualties or property damage have been reported so far.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed initial reports from districts across Punjab, stating no significant damage.
Emergency personnel and equipment are on standby to handle potential aftershocks.
The PDMA urged citizens to report any damage or emergencies to their helpline at 1129, reassuring the public of round-the-clock support from their control rooms.
The PDMA also advised residents to stay calm and follow safety precautions during any aftershocks. Authorities remain vigilant to ensure public safety in the affected areas.
