The festive spirit is building up as the first truck loaded with sacrificial animals has arrived at the Northern Bypass cattle market, marking the early launch of one of the city’s biggest seasonal livestock bazaars in preparation for Eid-ul-Azha.
The arrival of a truck carrying 27 bulls and cows from Ahmedpur Sharqia, owned by livestock trader Javed Bhatti, marked the lively beginning of this year’s Eid Ul Adha cattle market. Locals and youth celebrated the occasion with traditional drum beats and dancing, welcoming the animals with joy and excitement.
Shahab Ali, the Administrator of this year’s market, shared that preparations began just after Eid Ul Fitr—earlier than previous years. He said several new steps have been taken to improve the overall experience for both traders and buyers.
Among the key updates is a 50% reduction in parking fees, making access to the market more affordable. Traders have also been allowed to bring their own animal fodder, which reduces their overall expenses.
To ensure the health of sacrificial animals, the administration is offering free veterinary check-ups for every animal. Special focus is also being placed on animal welfare, with large animals receiving 30 litres of water daily and small animals getting 8 litres completely free of cost.
These arrangements are designed to make the buying and selling process smoother and more humane. Buyers can now choose animals with more confidence, knowing that basic health checks and proper care are being provided.
The early start and improved facilities are expected to attract more traders and buyers in the days leading up to Eid. This organized and animal-friendly approach reflects a positive step toward improving the traditional cattle market experience in the city.
