The Excise and Taxation Department in Islamabad has implemented new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to curb the agent mafia and enhance services for citizens.
The new regulations have made the process of purchasing and registering a new car more convenient. They state that if the owner of the vehicle is unable to visit the Excise Office in person to register or transfer the vehicle, they can authorize a third party using a letter of authorisation or biometric verification, which guarantees a secure transaction.
Those picking up the registration card on the owner’s behalf must also undergo biometric verification.
The Excise Department offers automobile registration and transfer services from home or at the office as part of a Doorstep Policy, which aims to further expedite the procedure.
Furthermore, mobile vans that offer on-the-spot registration services are now positioned at strategic sites including parks and marketplaces.
Additionally, citizens can apply online for registration. They are urged to seek a challan ticket for government expenses, which will list all associated costs.
The Excise Office’s helpline, 051-111-383-383, is open from 8 AM to 4 PM on business days for further assistance.
Excise Director For a hassle-free registration procedure, Bilal Azam has advised individuals to fully utilize these new possibilities.
