Five hurt in accidental shooting at Balochistan governor’s residence

An accidental shooting by a police officer at Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail’s private residence in Zhob injured five people.

The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed their condition was stable and they were receiving medical care. According to Zhob Superintendent of Police Shaukat Mohmand, the incident took place when the gun of a station house officer’s gunman accidentally went off.

He explained that the gunman had dropped his weapon on the ground, which led to an unintentional discharge. The SP further assured that there was no deliberate act involved, and initial findings suggest it was a mishap. The police have launched an investigation to confirm the details of the incident and rule out any negligence. Authorities have also reassured the public that proper safety measures will be reviewed to prevent such accidents in the future.

Students and faculty of the college, along with police personnel, were present at the location when the accidental firing occurred. Witnesses reported panic at the scene, but the quick response of security teams helped control the situation and shift the injured to safety. Officials stated that further inquiries are being carried out, and strict measures will be taken if any negligence is found.

For now, the case is being treated as an accident, and law enforcement agencies are focusing on ensuring that similar incidents do not happen again. The injured individuals are expected to make a full recovery, and their families have been informed. The event has raised concerns about security protocols during official visits and has highlighted the need for more careful handling of weapons by security personnel.
