Former PM Nawaz travels to London for medical checkup

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif left for London on Monday.

According to sources, the visit includes routine medical examinations as part of his regular health check-ups. This development comes just days after Nawaz Sharif underwent several medical tests at Lahore’s General Hospital on September 8. Party sources confirmed that the trip is mainly for health reasons, although he will also hold informal interactions during his stay in the UK.

Soon after his arrival in London, Nawaz Sharif addressed speculation about his health. Speaking informally to media persons, he dismissed the rumors and said that he was perfectly fine, calling the circulating news false. While talking about national matters, the former premier praised his brother and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He said the government has set Pakistan on the right path, adding that the prime minister has revived the struggling economy and is doing an excellent job.

Nawaz Sharif also called on Pakistanis to play their role in the country’s progress. He stressed that collective efforts were needed to strengthen the economy and ensure long-term stability. It is important to note that Nawaz Sharif had previously visited London in June this year for medical reasons. His frequent visits abroad for health consultations continue to remain a matter of political interest, as he is both the party president and a central figure in national politics.

For now, family members emphasize that his stay in London is focused on medical care and personal health. However, political observers believe his comments and activities during this visit will also shape discussions within PML-N and beyond.
